Riding the C&O Trail with AP-BRAT

The AP Bike-Riding Adventure Team rolled into action over four fabulous days in early August 2008, traversing the C&O Trail from Cumberland, Md., back to Washington. A motley and often muddy menagerie from the Washington and New York AP offices _ some experienced cyclists, some nearly new to the obsession _ pedaled, splashed and pacelined for more than 184 miles of glorious scenery and camaraderie. There were turtles and snakes and leprechauns and a mayor ... bountiful food, friendship, sleeping quarters and navigational assistance thanks to Deb Riechmann ... unparalleled documenting in photos and video by the photographers and wannabes ... and an overwhelming urge to do it all again very, very soon.
